Nancy Barich, LSW

Nancy Barich pronouns she/her/hers is a Licensed Social Worker who is dedicated to the mental health of young adults, adults and families. She completed her BA at University of Michigan, obtained her MA from Teachers College, Columbia University, and did her graduate training for her MSS at Bryn Mawr Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research in Bryn Mawr, PA. Nancy is currently providing individual DBT therapy and evidence-based treatment for emotionally dysregulated adults, young adults, adolescents and their families and facilitating weekly skills groups for adolescents and adults. Nancy, who has always focused on continuous education, most recently completed a 29-hour Dialectical Behavior Therapy Intensive at the Treatment Implementation Collaborative as well a DBT Skills Training at Behavioral Tech. She’s passionate about the role of mindfulness in wellbeing, completing Palouse Mindfulness Program, a Mindful Self-Compassion Program through the UC-San Diego Center for Mindfulness and most recently an 8-week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Program (MBSR) at Imagine Mindfulness. She’s volunteering with an international collaborative developing programing to provide high quality, affordable mindfulness teacher training in hopes of making mindfulness accessible for all.  Nancy enjoys working with adolescents, young adults, and adults and worked with a multi-disciplinary team at Princeton Behavioral Health Penn Medicine Princeton Health to provide DBT-treatment at an acute level of care for a diverse group of adolescents. In addition to supporting the EET meal programs, she co-led DBT skills training and managed homework groups. She conducted initial consultation, a triage-like process to discern best disposition for incoming clients at Princeton University and provided short-term individual therapy with undergraduate and graduate students. She utilized multiple perspectives such as Psychodynamic Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, CBT techniques, and mindfulness-based activities to promote change. Nancy believes in a holistic approach to mental health; She’s been practicing yoga for over 25 years and is a registered yoga instructor (RYT200) through the Yoga Alliance. Always passionate about education, working closely with the Superintendent, Nancy founded a local volunteer organization, Helpwell, convening community leaders from the district schools to define needs and establish a program to bring professional volunteers to share their expertise in support of the curriculum. In 2017, she was recognized for her achievement and awarded Volunteer of the Year by the Hopewell Valley Municipal Alliance. Her promise to her clients is to bring her full self—taking parts of mindfulness, yoga, gardening, family dynamics, parenting, education and the suite of biopsychosocial tools—to support their best selves and lives worth living. Nancy is completing her N.J. State licensing hours towards her independent LCSW status and is under the clinical supervision of Rikki Bobchin, LCSW
