Kimberly McLaughlin, LPC

Psychotherapist- Kimberly McLaughlin pronouns: she/her/hers is a Licensed Professional Counselor with over fifteen years of clinical experience working with adults, adolescents, and their families.  She received a BA from TCNJ and attended graduate school at Monmouth University where she received an MS in Professional Counseling. She graduated with distinction, earning membership into Chi Sigma Iota, an international academic and professional honor society for counseling students.  She began working in community mental health centers in 1999 and began private practice in 2010.  Kimberly utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) approaches to treatment.

Kimberly has been intensively trained in DBT through the Behavioral Tech Foundational training and has received additional trainings in DBT through Behavioral Tech including: Advanced Topics in DBT, Validation Principles and Strategies, Getting to the Heart of the Problem: Targeting, Assessing and Solving Problem Behaviors, and Skills Group Training. Kimberly also participated in a research study developed by Behavioral Tech implementing exposure protocols in the treatment of panic disorder.   In addition, Kimberly completed the Intensive Training in Exposure and Response Prevention for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) at the Center for Treatment and Study of Anxiety (CTSA) at University of Pennsylvania.  Kimberly has continued to receive supervision from experts from University of Pennsylvania in the application of interventions in the treatment of OCD and other anxiety disorders.

Kimberly is currently providing individual DBT therapy to adolescents and adults, and she facilitates weekly skills groups.  In addition, Kimberly provides individual exposure treatment to clients with anxiety disorders which includes home visits, phone consultation, and off site exposures.  Kimberly has expertise in treating a variety of clinical disorders, including borderline personality disorder, OCD, panic disorder, specific phobias, generalized anxiety disorder, social phobia, depression, and bipolar disorder.

Kimberly is committed to providing evidence based treatments to her clients.  She is an active member of several professional organizations including Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT), International OCD Foundation (IOCDF), and PracticeGround.
